ARMANI – Bringing “Hells Kitchen Hair” to Broadway

Armani is the manager and stylist at the Dramatics NYC location on 57th Street at www.dramaticsnyc.com/57 in the heart of the theater district. He has many clients who are actors of stage and screen. One of those clients is Jake Lipman who is starring in a show that is a part of the prestigious Fringe Festival. To hear Armani and Jake discuss the show and more, please listen to the radio show below.
Jake Lipman's production is called BOOKS ON TAPE, and it’s in the New York International Fringe Festival (photo credit: (c.) 2011 - Dixie Sheridan). Jake's website is here www.tictheater.com, where you can learn more/buy tickets!
Jake's theater company is Tongue in Cheek Theater Productions. She is the artistic director of the company and acts in many of its productions. Their mission is to produce comedies that make you think. Jake is quick to add that she always has Armani do her hair right before she opens a new show, so she knows she will look great for the run.

Also, in keeping with the theater theme, Armani is in the process of developing a special homage to Broadway shows and their styles. We caught up with Armani to find out more about this burgeoning project.

Hi Armani, tell us about this exciting endeavor.
ARMANI
A while back my manager predecessor, Topaz, had one of the stars of Dolly Parton’s 9 to 5 show on Broadway sit in her chair while getting a haircut. The coverage was done by Broadway Blast magazine. Check it out here at www.BroadwayBlast.com.

Well, I was recently approached by “Broadway Blast” and was inspired to have my publication “Hell’s Kitchen Hair” and others participate along with BB in special tribute to the art form of theater through the art form of hair.
HKH
That sounds fascinating. How would this work?
ARMANI
It’s currently a work in progress with my publisher friend Yianni Stamas of the Magic Neighbors Community Outreach theater troupe www.magicneighbors.com, but we think it will be something along the lines of what he did for “Broadway Blast” and “9 to 5” on Broadway. My goal is to bridge the gap between the art forms of theater and hair. Working for a place named Dramatics - which was founded conceptually in the world of theater - lends itself to this union.
HKH
I heard that Dramatics was started by a hairstylist who was also an actor, right?
ARMANI
Yes, Rock is an actor and his partner Ace is a musician. And both are hairdressers. So I thought this event would be a perfect way to celebrate Dramatics NYC and Broadway.
HKH
Can anyone attend this event?
ARMANI
Yes, anyone can attend this event. And quite frankly if you’re an emerging actor or lover of theater and style you’re not going to want to miss it. It’s going to be showbiz central here at Dramatics NYC! Lights camera fashion!
